The fest is a brilliant bubbling bonanza of brats, beer and music that takes over the street from 23rd-25th.   The festival runs through Sept. 25. The event is based on the German Oktoberfest holiday, which is thought to have begun in 1810 as a wedding celebration for Prince Ludwig I. Oktoberfest Denver expects to draw about 250,000 people from across the state and beyond.
