Free Concert: Opera Rocks the Rockies – Nov 5

Central City Opera (CCO) and the University of Colorado (CU) Opera Studies program team up to present Divas and Demons, a concert featuring spectacular and devilish characters from opera and musical theater. The concert will be performed throughout the state as part of Central City Opera’s 14th annual Opera Rocks the Rockies tour of Colorado, kicking off in Boulder with the FREE Opera Rocks the Rockies, Friday November 5, 7:30 p.m. “Touring is one way we can give back to the many people who support our artistic and historic preservation efforts, and bring arts experiences to students throughout the region” said Central City Opera’s Director of Education and Community Programs, Deborah Morrow.

A 90-minute program of staged scenes, Divas and Demons features spooky and splashy characters from the gypsy queen Carmen to the murderous Mephistopheles. Audiences will enjoy popular selections including the “Drinking Song” from La Traviata, “Toreador” from Carmen and Mephistophele’s aria from Faust, as well as duets and arias from Don Pasquale, I Pagliacci, The Medium, Sweeney Todd, and more!
